Designing Britain’s Future:
How design protection in commerce and industry will progress post Brexit

IPAN’s next network meeting will take place 4-6pm on Thursday 22 November at CIPA, 2nd floor Halton House, 20-23 Holborn, London  EC1N 2JD.

The key issue for this meeting is to address how design protection will change after BREXIT, what Government is planning and how industry needs to adapt. Design protection is one of the key areas of IP rights where our UK industries rely substantially on EU rights : for example the fashion industry on the EU unregistered design right. At present there is no equivalent in UK legislation. Our event is also an opportunity to see how innovation in design is addressing the issues of today like plastic pollution and how new design can make us greener. We are pleased to announce a panel of leading speakers in this field for the meeting.

Dids McDonald: The challenges and opportunities for the creative industries in designing for the future
Rob Holdway: Designing a green and pleasant land
Nathan Abraham IPO: The “design” for BREXIT
Margaret Briffa: Design Protection past and future
