LES Laws Committee.

The Role of the Laws Committee of LES Britain and Ireland (LES (B&I)) is to lobby on proposed changes to the law which may affect licensing and to educate and inform members of LES (B&I) on those changes.  The Committee focuses most closely on changes to the law in the UK and the EU, but it also tries to keep an eye on major changes abroad, particularly in the USA.

The Committee is in regular communication with the UK IPO and its associated bodies, and provides input to the EU and the European Patent Office, on matters affecting IP law and practice.

The educating/ information role is carried out in a number of ways:

·    Articles in News Exchange;

·    Contributions at the LES (B&I) Annual Conference;

·    Evening meetings;

The Committee meets five times a year usually, in Central London.  Members who cannot come in person are encouraged to join in by telephone conferencing.

If you would like to help with the work of the Committee, work please contact the Chairman, Robin Nott, on laws@les-bi.org or by ‘phone on 020 8748 6399
